The old dry outlet has no grounding hole, and the new dryer has an extra G pole. So the adapter cord’s female with an additional green grounding wire and terminal.

Make sure you plug the ground into a separate receptacle. The receptacle could be any 15a or 20a regular home wall outlet or the ground slot of extension cord closer to your dryer. 

Note that the dryer will not be grounded if the green grounding terminal is not connected to the socket.
