What Are Dome Rivets?

Dome Rivets (also called Pop Rivets or Blind Rivets) are designed to provide a permanent fastening solution between overlaying surfaces. Dome Rivets are designed for ‘blind’ installation, and only require access to one side of the structure for installation. Due to their construction, rivets provide strong resistance to shear forces (perpendicular to the rivet shaft) and can resist light tensioning loads (parallel to the rivet shaft).
The core of a Dome Rivet is called a mandrel, and is pulled into the component during installation to deform and lock the blind end. A Dome Rivet is installed using a specially designed tool, sometimes called a Rivet gun.

Materials

Dome Rivets are Made of 18-8 Stainless Steel and the mandrel is made of carbon steel.

These rivets join material when you only have access to one side. The low-profile domed head creates a finished appearance.
The combined thickness of material must fall within the rivets material thickness range.
Shear strength is the amount of force it takes to break a rivet from the side, and tensile strength is the amount of pull a rivet can withstand without breaking. Joint strength is also affected by rivet spacing and hole size.
Ablind rivet tool (sold separately) with a nosepiece that matches the rivets diameter is required for installation.

Method of use

Drill a hole in the fixed object first.
Insert a rivet into the hole.
Release the handle and clip the rivet into the head of the gun.
Grasp the handle of the riveting gun and bite the tail of the rivet.
Release handle ,release rivet tail.
