●Sumatran Blue Amber is named for the blue glow it produces when exposed to UV light. This color change produced by UV light is called the Usambara Effect.
●This unique amber specimen from the Indonesian island of Sumatra is estimated to be 15-30 million years old. Another unique quality of this material is its distinct aromatic fragrance when worked or exposed to flame.
●Each piece features raw or natural edges (not tumbled) with hand polished surfaces that shimmer with depth and sparkle within. Subtle blue reflections are caused by natural Sulfur inclusions.
