The fine quality of stearate tends to liquefy under the heat providing a protective layer to the flaps that help to avert loading or gumming up on soft metals. High-Density Flap DiscThese discs can be used like any other discs, but they work best on softer metals like copper, aluminum, and bronze. The sanding discs do not gum up like zirconia or aluminum discs which provides a much better grind to the soft metals.
