The engine interface module is a sealed, engine-mounted module that provides switching relays for the starter magnet, glow plug and fuel magnet. Each of these circuits is protected with individual fuses installed in the module. Individual LEDs light up when each circuit is energized. Two versions of the motor interface module are available: EIM Basic: The ElM is used in conjunction with control panels that are equipped with an overspeed cut-off. EIM Plus: The ElIM plus is used in conjunction with control panels that are not equipped with an overspeed cut-off. Overspeed signal (EIM Plus only) The ElM Plus monitors the speed signal from the magnetic pickup. When the engine speed exceeds a certain preset value, the module sends a zero volt signal to the generator control panel to activate the overspeed fault circuit. The overspeed setpoint is set at the factory to 55 Hz for 50 Hz sets and 66 Hz for 60 Hz sets. This can be set with the adjusting screw, which is accessible through the hole next to the LED for setting the overspeed. While the motor is running at the nominal speed (1500 rpm for 50 Hz or 1800 rpm for 60 Hz), the adjusting screw should be adjusted until the LED for setting the overspeed just goes out. This sets the overspeed value to 10% above the speed at which the generator is operated.
