The ALCO RS-3 is a 1600 hp Road Switcher Diesel Locomotive, designed to both haul railcars in mainline service and shunt them in railroad yards. Manufactured by American Locomotive Company (ALCO), over 1,400 RS-3’s were produced in the 1950’s for service in North America. The Bachmann RS-3 includes a factory installed DCC sound value decoder, equipped for sound, speed, direction, and lighting control. Featuring a TCS decoder programed with prototypical sounds, this locomotive is ready to run on both analog and DCC layouts.
