DMX512 Lighting Control Cable
Digital multiplexing (or DMX) is a standard protocol in the lighting industry that allows lighting equipment from different manufacturers to be connected together and operated. It relies on digital signals for network connection through special DMX cables, which carry control information for dimmers, flashlights, and other lighting equipment.
This versatility requires knowledge of cable and terminal characteristics; all cables that comply with the DMX512 cable standard can work in the system. Good quality individually shielded or shielded twisted pair cables minimize crosstalk; in addition, 120 ohms (Ω), 3 or 5 characteristic impedance input and a flexible and sturdy sheath are sufficient to meet many needs.
Balanced XLR cable, output voltage is 2.7Vpp (transmitter load 110Ω), input and output impedance is 110Ω (0.1-6MHz bandwidth).

The cable should be durable enough to withstand harsh conditions and still provide strong signal transmission. Keep data transmission clear to reduce reflections.
The characteristic impedance of DMX cable is rated at 120Ω. 22 American Wire Gauge (AWG), low capacitance, foil shielded and braided shielded twisted pair. Better shielding provides a clearer signal. The use of equivalent termination resistance between the + data line and the-data line can also minimize signal distortion.
