1. Pick a word
Wed recommend starting with a word/phrase they are most interested in. This could be a word/phrase theyve already heard from you, such as Play (or Lets Play), Outside, Food, Potty, etc. We recommend starting with one word/phrase and keep adding new words to the pad as your pet becomes more familiar with buttons.
2. Record your voice (word)
Once you picked the word, record it on one of the buttons, and stick the corresponding icon on it. If you dont find the corresponding icon, simply use one of the blank labels, write the word, and stick it to the button.
3. Place the button on the pad
Once you have recorded the word on the button, place it on one of the button placements on the non-slip pad. The button placement on the pad will help your pet remember the word by corresponding them to the location on the pad.
4. Train your dog to use the button
- Once everything is set up, its time to train them to use the button. Repeatedly use the word/phrase you would want to teach them. For example, if youre going to teach them the word "outside," say, "you wanna go outside? Lets go outside," and repeat the word "outside" repeatedly.
- Then at the same time, youre saying the word "outside," press the "outside" button and point to the action (or object) you want to teach them; in this case, going outside and eventually, take them out. This way, they will correspond the sound and placement of the button to the act (going outside) and learn to press the button when they want to go outside.
- Make sure to teach them the word/phrase (e.g., Outside) when they really want to do it (going outside), not when they are in a different mood (e.g., sleeping).
