Description

Includes two complete plans. Everyone wants the best for their kids, but furniture made especially for babies has a built-in "expiration date" that sometimes makes it difficult to justify the expense. This do-it-yourself nursery set, however, provides a handsome, budget-conscious way to have it both ways. The convertible crib features two drawers below and a cabinet above for lots of built-in storage. When the baby outgrows the crib, simply remove the cabinet, slatted sides and footboard and replace the mattress to convert the project to a junior-size captains bed. The matching changing table also features two big drawers and a cabinet for plenty of storage. Once the baby is out of diapers, the removable changing top allows it to be transformed into a "big kid" dresser in a matter of minutes. Made of oak (other species will work), both projects are straightforward and relatively simple to build. Just cut out the pieces, sand and assemble using screws, glue and dowels. To finish, apply stain or paint and install the hardware. The crib & bed measures about 68 inches long by 39 inches tall by 38 inches deep, and the changing table & dresser is about 47 inches tall by 31 inches wide by 18 inches deep.
