WHAT FOOT DO YOU HAVE?

The First thing you need to do is have a look at the photo of the Foot Shanks numbered 1 to 4, if your machine has any of these Brackets then this foot will fit your sewing machine. When ordering a new foot for your Sewing Machine the first thing you need to establish is what type of foot do you need? There are basically four types, Slant Shank (mainly old Singer Sewing Machines), High Shank, Low Shank and Snap On/Clip On. Please see Diagram below showing feet types (Except Bernina, some Pfaff and Some Husqvarna, which have their own unique attachment and therefore need a foot shank adaptor).

Does your machines foot screw on or Snap-on/Clip-On? If it does not use a screw to attach, then it is a Snap-on / Clip-On.

If it screws on it is important to know whether your machine is a low shank, high shank, or slant shank sewing machine. If you are not certain, you can measure using the simple instructions below:

To MeasureTo Measure

To Measure:

Please make sure that the presser foot it lowered before measuring, measure the distance from the bottom of foot to the centre of the screw-hole that holds the foot onto the presser bar.

Singer slant is for slant needle machine only.

A high shank machine measures approximately 1 1/4" (32mm) from the screw (small red dot on the above diagram) to the bottom of the foot.

A low shank machine measures approximately 3/4" (18mm) from the screw (small red dot on the above diagram) to the bottom of the foot.

TIPS:

1,The other measurement you can use is the width of the foot shank where the foot Snaps-On.

2,Pfaff feet are mostly 8mm

3,Austin, Brother, Singer, Janome, Toyota, Baby lock, Silver, Necchi, ER Classic and many more are mostly 6mm

4,Husqvarna are 5.5mm

5,Singer Narrow Slant Shank and Narrow Short Shank are 1.5mm

6,Most machines made since 1980 use Snap-on feet.

7,All Bernina Sewing Machines need a "Low Shank Adaptor" which will then allow you to use the standard Snap-On style feet.

8,Singer Slant IS FOR SINGER SLANT MACHINES only. (All other Singers have Snap-on or screw on feet.)

9,All Featherweights use low shank feet. They are centre needle position machines.

10,For super high-bar lever-style Kenmore, use a High-bar adaptor.
