  • Starting air conditioner or heat pump compressors (both reciprical and scroll type) that need an extra "jolt" of electricity to get started.
  • Equipment that needs a hard-start capacitor:heat pump or condensers split-systems that have a(TXV) installed on them.
  • Old heat pump or condensers that are mechanically stuck and not operating .

If you have a new or old compressor that isnt starting, try installing this hard-start capacitor before you do anything else.

  • The parts inside a compressor might be too physically tight to move, or on systems with a TXV where the refrigerant pressures are higher on start-up, and need an extra "kick" of energy to get started. This hard-start capacitor provides that extra jolt of energy.
  • Capacitor is very easy to install (takes about 1 minute) and will remain permanently in the equipment.

How to determine the tonnage of the equipment

Check the model number on the compressor (printed on the nameplate on the side of the compressor)

  • 12000BTU=1TON
  • 18000BTU=1.5TONS
