Description

11

Leaf chains are one of the simplest types of steel chains, consisting only of link plates and pins. They are mostly used for heavier loads and have a higher tensile strength than a roller chain. Suitable for hanging, balancing, or motion transmitting applications. Some applications are sky stackers, fork lifts and elevators.

All of our chain products have gone through stringent process measures for Best Quality! This includes heat treatment, which ensures the optimum ware life and toughness for all component parts. Solid hardened and shot peened precision rollers are standard on most of our chains. The bushings provide a smooth roller bearing effect reducing the impact load as the chain engages the sprockets tooth. During chain assembly, all chain components are oriented to ensure pins, bushings, and side plates are correctly positioned for optimum chain strength and long life. Assembled chains are then dipped in a hot lubricant. This lubrication and the process in which it is applied greatly improve the ware life capacity of the chain and further protect it from the effects of the environment. All of our chains are factory preload. They are pretested to support and maintain the expected load the chain will see when in use. This helps align the chain parts which will minimize the initial elongation. This will drastically increase the life of the chain. All our Chain is certified from ISO 9001:2000 QM certification through ISO 14001 (which documents the sustainability and environmental compatibility of production and waste disposal processes) to the ISO/TS 16949 quality requirements for the automotive industry.

Heat Treatment

This ensures the optimum wear life and toughness for all component parts.

Shot Peened and Ball Calibrating

Link plates and rollers are shot peened for greater fatigue strength. The ball calibrating assures maximum resistance to fatigue failure for the plate hole.

Pre-Stressing

Pre-stressing operations firmly seat the chain parts evenly distributing the working load. It accurately establishes chain length and prevents rapid elongation during the initial run in period.

Pre-Loading

Roller chains are running after final assembly, the running in of chain increase it resistance to fatigue and prevent initial elongation of the chain.

How to Identify Your Leaf Chain

Leaf chains are available in a variety of series, here at Jeremywell, we currently offer the BL Series. When you are in need of replacing your leaf chain there are a few things you can do to help you identify the correct replacement.

  1. Take a look at the side plate of the chain to find the stamped part #
    1. The letters on the plate indicate the series, ex: BL
    2. The numbers on the plate indicate the chain size, ex: 8
  2. Identify the Plate Lacing
    1. Lay your chain on a flat surface to easily count the plates
    2. Start with the outer most plate and count all the way across
    3. Then, count the plates on the inner link all the way across

Leaf Chains come in a variety of plate configurations, see below for a visual demonstration.
