Mounting on Drill Press Table:
We recommend installing a 1/2" plywood panel on the drill press table. It can be held in place by inserting it under the mortising fence. Dell the mounting holes in the plywood to match the slots in the table. The plywood panel prevents damage to the mortising chisel. If it should strike the table by accident and also is a simple method of incasing the size of the table.
The bolts famished with this attachment are long enough to hold the plywood panel as well as the fence an base. Insert the square head bolts. Through the slots of the drill press table from below pass them through the plywood panel, fence and hold down base. Use washers #5 under the table and washers. #12 on top. Fasten the assembly try tightening the wing nuts.
Spindle Speeds:
The correct spindle speed depends on the size of the bit and the hardness of the wood. Your best cuts are generally in the range of 650 to 1800 RPM. Use a slower speed for larger bits and harder woods and faster speeds for smaller bits and softer woods.
