Description

The loading gauge on British railways could preclude the movement of tall goods on normal wagons. One solution to this was the lower the centre of the wagon so that the goods sat closer to the rail. Lowmac wagons feature a distinctive shape; a flat platform in the centre with sloped platforms that rose up towards the ends making room for the wheels underneath.
