Description

This is a beginner’s delight! Knit on #7 needles, Boater is a rugged and comfortable outdoor sweater. Inspired by the old ‘letter sweaters’ from another era, with its easy, wide boat neck, this design has an additional detail of a K1, P1 Raised Rib yoke knit on #6 needles, which aids in the armhole shaping. The directions include instructions to assemble the pieces with Single Crochet worked on the right side adding a raised detail to the seams. Tradition would dictate smooth, evenly spun wool, but it is such a basic pattern there is room for experimentation with textured tweeds, homespuns, cottons and fiber blends.
