Step 1: Turn off the water heater Be sure to turn off the power to the water pump, gas supply, and water heater

Step 2: Remove the old anode and drain water heater Use the 1-1/16" socket wrench to remove the old anode rod, which also can serves as a drain plug.

Step 3:Rinse water heater Flush off the sediment at the bottom of the water tank. Then fill the water tank slightly and let all the water flow out, repeating several times.

Step 4: Replace a new anode rode Roll the tape onto the threads of the anode rod to ensure good sealing. Replace the anode rod and tighten with a socket wrench.
