Serie T

REL Acoustics TzeroREL Acoustics Tzero

Serie T subwoofers are every bit a REL, just designed to enhance the soundstage in the unique spaces we live. We started with the end user in mind, taking into account the challenges and opportunities smaller studios or apartments and studies or home offices present. Tzero reflect this end-use design, providing the fast, deep, substantive bass RELs are renowned for producing in a form that doesnt just accommodate these spaces, but leverages their unique qualities. Tzero enriches even modest systems with power and natural bass, bringing the quality and full REL connectivity suite, long throw drivers and powerful, reliable amplifiers to a new lower retail point and dimension.

Our Story: We make subwoofers. That’s it. Nothing else. No distractions. Nothing to steal our focus. No kidding ourselves that we can be good at everything. No trying to conquer the whole world. We just do our best to conquer our bit of it. From the beginning this has been a labor of love, born from a desire for a more perfect sound experience. It began with one man’s dissatisfaction with the performance of subwoofers available at the time. That search for better, that pursuit of perfect sound remains the driving force behind REL. It has persisted through changes in ownership, it has driven massive advancements in technology and innovations in designs. Turning loose the power, the drama and the fun that lies within great music and movies.

Our Purpose: Each day we come in to work in pursuit of only one intention, to produce the most raw, perfect, pure sound possible, to capture the raw intention of the artist. We use the best quality materials, employ the most exacting construction requirements. We think of the problem holistically. We pursue the chase of the perfect experience of sound with an obsessive passion and vigor.

We do it because we love sound. We believe sound can move people more than any other sense. We believe it’s the integration of the bass via the perfect subwoofer that makes everything else better. And, ultimately, there is a great deal of satisfaction to be gained from doing this well, creating something of unique quality, such that you know it is going to inspire. It makes the hard work and the obsessing over each and every detail worth all the effort. That’s our reward.

Our Way: We obsess over the details, never satisfied, never finished, constantly refining, simplifying, building iteratively upon what has come before. This is the path to perfection, a never ending pursuit for better. We view the challenge simply, as the need to transform electrical currents into soundwaves that can extend the capabilities of loudspeakers. We then approach the situation holistically, looking at every aspect of the bass engine and improving any weakness or shortfall. Constantly testing and experimenting with new materials, engineering or design. Always striving to add more value with every improvement by delivering sound experiences, timeless beauty and reliability that outweigh their cost.

We take this approach on every model, no matter its size or cost. Because we believe the pursuit of prefect sound is a worthy endeavor, one that can start anywhere and last a lifetime. We hope you’ll join us.

The High Level Cable Separates REL From the Pack

Using the High Level input is always the best option. Using the High Level Input, instead of the Low Level Input, and connecting to the speaker output terminals of your amplifier is one of the unique secrets of REL’s success. When using the High Level input, your REL is fed the same signal that your main speakers are receiving. When connecting to the High Level input on the REL from the amplifier, you capture the sonic signature of your main system, including the tonal balance and timing cues of the entire electronics chain. This is a very important point and together with REL’s Active Bass Controller (ABC), ensures far superior system integration of the sub-bass with the main system.

1. PLACE

Ideal positioning is located in one of two front corners nearest the location of the screen and main speakers. Corner positioning reinforces deep bass and produces more efficiency, output for a given volume setting. Take care to turn the sub inward at approximately a 45-degree angle to obtain best release of low notes.

* These are recommended best practices for positioning a REL Subwoofer, always refine placement and angle by ear.

** To obtain optimal performance from a REL subwoofer and extend the performance of your speakers, your main speakers must be setup properly. Always follow the setup instructions from your speaker manufacturer first, before setting up your REL.

2. CONNECT (Stereo)

For Stereo/Home Theater applications use the High Level input. When using the High Level input, your REL is fed the same signal that your main speakers are receiving.

If High Level connection is unavailable: Connect via Low Level with a RCA cable from your sub-out or pre-out on your processor or AV receiver.

.

3. CONNECT (Theater Reference)

REL Theater Reference is when you connect High Level and LFE. Its important to connect High Level even for Home Theater. REL Theater Reference supports your main speakers turning them into a truly full range (20Hz-20,000 Hz) speaker while also provide Low Frequency Effects (LFE) during those subsonic part in a surround sound mix.

Home Theater Applications:

In addition to the High Level Cable also connect the LFE/.1 input. This input should only be used when connecting your REL to a Theater system. The LFE/.1 input can be used simultaneously with the High Level or Low Level input for seamless transition from Stereo to surround sound.

1. Phase

Move the phase switch from 0 to 180 positions and listen for whichever position is loudest or fullest. That is, when the position is working in harmony with your main speakers, reinforcing bass not cancelling it.

2. Corner Fine Tuning

With the REL fully into the corner, and pointed to the opposite corner, continuing to play the music, slowly pull the REL from the corner on the diagonal, line to opposite corner, equidistant from both side and rear wall. At a certain point the REL will audibly play louder, go lower in frequency extension, and truly pressurize the room.

3. Orintation

Rotate the sub on from an imagined center point at the rear of the REL listening for the greatest level of output.

4. Final Settings

Now move both the High/Low Level control and Crossover control to 10 o’clock settings (15 clicks from minimum). In most cases this is just about where the settings will end up. The Level control should be at a setting where you can hear the REL even with the main speakers playing. This is Generally 15 clicks +/- 3 clicks. The Crossover control should be set to where the sub bass is not overpowering or sloppy. It should be in time with the impulses of the main speakers so you can hear the depth and dynamics of the low frequencies. Again, this setting is generally 15 clicks +/- 3 clicks.
