Feature

●DOES NOT compatible with Razor Dirt Quad version 1-10
●NOTE: Please make sure the model and the wiring are right. Most electric scooters and electric bikes have controllers which were made specifically for that model. Please carefully confirm the model number of controllers before buying
●Version Specific Controller: The version number is located on the ID tag which may be found on the battery charger, battery box, handlebar stem, bottom of scooter, or other areas. The 7th and 8th numbers on the Razor ID tag are the version number. (For example: 01 = Version 1, 09 = Version 9, 14 = Version 14)

Note:

Model versions can be determined based on the product ID code on your Razor product. The product ID code can be found on the battery cover and/or on the bottom of the frame. The 7th and 8th numbers in your product ID code are the version number of your Razor product (e.g. "01" = Version 1, "02" = Version 2, etc.)

Warm Tips:

  • Most electric scooters and electric bikes have controllers which were made specifically for that model. Please carefully confirm the model number of controllers before buying.
  • If a controller is available that will plug-and-play directly into an electric scooter or bike, however the controller is not listed by make and model, be careful when installing it because the wiring patterns going to the connectors may be different than that of the original controller. Double check the wiring to make sure that it is correct before installing the new controller. If the connectors are correct but the wiring going to the connectors are incorrect the pins can be removed and installed in different locations on the connector.
  • Sometimes the brake switch becomes defective and locks into the on position which makes the controller turn off the motor. If the scooter works after disconnecting the brake switch then the brake switch is defective.

Controller Installation Tips:

1. Before replacing the controller make sure that the key switch or power switch is in the off position.

2. Disconnect the battery pack from the controller first when removing a controller, and connect the battery pack to the controller last when installing a controller.

3. Hang or block the rear wheel off the ground, or remove the chain or belt from the motor before connecting the battery pack to the controller. Sometimes due to damaged or incorrect wiring or faulty electrical components the rear wheel might spin uncontrollably when making the final wiring connection to the battery pack.

4. Do not short-circuit the battery terminals or wiring harness connector pins and make sure the batteries fit snug into place and that all of the wiring and connectors are in good serviceable condition.

If your Speed Controller Does Not Work, the possible cause are as follows:

  • Make Sure The Power Switch Is On
  • Check The Fuse Or Circuit Breaker

If the scooters uses a fuse, look at the inside of the fuse to see if it is burned-out.

  • Try Pushing The Scooter To Start

Electric scooters with single speed throttles will sometimes need to be pushed forward in order to run. Stand on the scooter with one foot and push it forward with your other foot while fully engaging the throttle.

  • Inspect By Sight, Touch, And Smell

Remove the footplate or wiring cover and look for any burned or melted wires, wire connectors, or electrical components. Also look for loose, disconnected, or damaged wires or wire connectors.

  • Test The Other Components Connected To Speed Controller

If all of the other components that are connected to the speed controller test good then the speed controller has to be the problem.

  • Test The Fuse Or Circuit Breaker

Checking the continuity of the fuse or circuit breaker with a multimeter is the best way to determine if they are working or not.

  • Test The Brake Lever Switch

Most scooters have normally open brake switches, however, some scooters have normally closed brake switches. To test for a faulty normally open brake switch, disconnect the brake lever wire connector from the speed controller and then see if the scooter runs. If the scooter run when the brake lever switch is disconnected from the speed controller then the brake lever switch is a normally open type which is faulty. To test for a faulty normally closed brake lever switch, disconnect the brake lever wire connector from the speed controller and bridge the two terminals together in the controllers connector that the brake switch is unplugged from. If the scooter runs when the controllers brake switch connector terminals are bridged together then the brake switch is a normally closed type which is faulty.

  • Test The Key Switch Or Power Switch

Testing the continuity of the key switch or power switch with a multimeter is the best way to determine if it is working or not.

  • Test The Battery Charger Port
  • Test The Battery Charger

If the charger is not charging the battery or battery pack up to a 100% state of charge then the charger is faulty.

  • Test The Battery Pack On A Scooter That Runs
  • Test The Battery Pack On A Scooter That Does Not Run

If the scooter is not running, a load test can be performed on its batteries by removing the battery pack from the scooter and taking the individual batteries out. The individual batteries can then be tested with a automotive battery load tester.

  • Test The Voltage Of The Battery Pack

If a battery packs Voltage does not bounce back to above its rated Voltage level within a few minutes after being discharged that points towards a defective or worn-out battery pack.

  • Test The Throttle
  • Inspect The Speed Controller

Look for any burned or melted wires or wire connectors on the speed controller. If any wires are burned or melted then the speed controller may be defective.

  • Inspect The Motor

Look for any burned or melted wires or wire connectors attached to the motor.
