The 3Dio FS XLR microphone is a workhorse. Living up to the hype, it delivers a smooth, rich sound that brings a realistic feel to just about any project. Whether youre recording live music, quiet asmr, enhancing your films or capturing the sounds of nature, The 3Dio FS XLR is a perfect fit. Every FS XLR binaural microphone comes equipped with two prosthetic ears with Microphone capsules embedded inside. It captures sound just like we hear sound in the real world with our own ears. When you listen to an FS XLR microphone recording using headphones, you hear the sound as if you were there at the time of recording. The effect is so powerful because the design is based on 15+ years of research into binaural technology and human hearing. How does it work? The 3Dio FS XLR is a binaural microphone. It is a microphone with two prosthetic human-shaped ears spaced roughly 5" Apart and microphone capsules embedded in the ear canals. The result is a microphone that captures sound The way that we hear sound. It mimics human hearing. If you are recording outside and a dog barks in the distance or a plane flies overhead, when you listen back to the recording on headphones, youll be able to pinpoint the location of those sounds in space. This phenomenon gives every recording a visceral quality that only binaural can provide. The 3Dio FS XLR microphone has a very warm and solid response in the low to mid-range frequencies. This brings out the punch as well as provides low-end support for bass-heavy sounds. The microphone capsules integrated inside the ear canals are extremely sensitive and have a very natural presence, perfect for binaural recordings. The frequency response of the capsules used in the FS XLR roll off slightly above 10kHz. This is excellent for recording instruments with loud high frequencies like drum cymbals or strummed acoustic guitars. It also prevents any harsh effects that are sometimes associated with binaural recordings using smaller capsules. What is the difference between the FS and the FS XLR models? The FS XLR contains additional circuitry to accept 48V phantom power for continuous use without having to rely on the internal battery power. The XLR outputs also provide a louder signal than the 1/8” (3. 5mm) output resulting in a lower noise floor. Xlr Phantom power output in addition to the 1/8" (3. 5mm) stereo output jack, This upgraded version of the FS microphone includes two balanced stereo XLR outputs that support Phantom power. Power the FS XLR using the 48V supply from your audio interface, digital recorder or mixing console or use the internal 9V battery. The Phantom power works regardless of the state of the battery. Additionally, the FS XLR outputs provide a hotter signal when compared to the 1/8" Output.
