Description

HighPoint’s Rocket 700 Series 12G High Port Count HBAs Establishes a New Milestone for single-controller Storage Solutions HighPoints new Rocket 700 series 12G SAS product line represent the industry’s densest single-card HBA solutions for x86-64 Intel/AMD, ARM and Mac platforms. As successors to the industry’s original single-card mass storage solution, Rocket 750 6Gb/s SATA HBA, Rocket 700A series 12G HBAs are available with 8 to 48 independent device channels, and are capable of supporting any industry standard 2.5” or 3.5” SAS or SATA hard disk drive. The full-length, single width HBAs can be easily integrated into any industry standard x86 or ARM platform with a free PCIe 3.0 or 4.0 x16 slot. Rocket 700A HBAs utilize robust, self-locking SFF-8643 ports, which support a wide range of cabling options and drive bay configurations. Staggered Power Up Solution Hard disk drives require considerably more power during their initial spin-up phase. Powering on 36 or more drives simultaneously can place a great deal of strain on the platform’s PSU. To mitigate this problem, Rocket 700A series enable administrators to power-up groups of PUIS enabled hard disks at timed intervals; a feature known as Staggered Drive Spin-Up. This feature can be enabled or disabled by the administrator as needed, using the Web-based or CLI management interfaces. OS RAID and Software-Defined Storage Infrastructure Ready Rocket 700 Series HBAs are compatible with all modern operating systems including Windows/Windows Server, macOS, and current distributions of Linux. Hard disks hosted by Rocket 700A series HBAs will be recognized as independent, stand-alone drives, which can be formatted, partitioned and configured into software RAID arrays or JBOD/span configurations using the default Windows and Linux storage management interfaces. Rocket 700A series HBAs are fully compatible with OS level RAID solutions and Software-Defined Storage Suites (SDS) such as Linux CEPH, and Microsoft S2D. Customers need only install the device driver – no additional software layer or interface is required. HighPoint’s SHI (Storage Health Inspector) The SHI monitoring interface allows administrators to instantly check the operating status of storage devices in real-time. SHI utilizes SMART technology to log and report the characteristics of each physical drive, such as temperature, voltage, and disk related warnings or errors.
