FACIAL TISSUE HISTORY
Since ancient times, people have been known to use their hands, clothes, or both to wipe their noses. Some folk says that the Roman Empire used a separate piece of cloth to wipe the nose. Fast forward to the 16th century, European repurposed the kerchief, a cloth used as a head covering, as cloth for wiping hands, faces, and noses. Thus the handkerchief was born and is still in use today.
