How do I know when to replace a hard hat?

Most hard hats have a shelf life of 5 years from the date of manufacture that is printed on the hat. Or if you notice cracks, dents, physical damage, strain, stress marks, fading, discoloration from UV rays, to your hard hat, its time to replace it.

What are the OSHA ANSI codes for regulations or standards for hard hats?

Three classes level of protection:

Class E (Electrical protection): High-voltage electrical shock and burn protection.

Class G (General protection): Low-voltage electrical shock and burn protection.

Class C (Conductive): Non electrical protection.

What is the difference between a hard hat and a bump cap?

Hard hat is designed for use in high-hazard environments, where there is a risk of falling objects, electrical shock, and other types of hazardous exposure. Bump caps are for low-hazard intended to protect against minor bumps, knocks, and bruises.

Whats the difference between Type I and Type II hard hats?

Type I are designed to protect workers from objects & blows from above and strike the top of the head, while Type II are designed to offer protection from lateral blows and objects, including from the front, back, and side, as well as from the top.
