My new toaster smells like burning plastic when toasting, how to fix it?

Does the outside of the toaster stay cool when toasting?

Outside and the sides of the toaster stay cool, but please do NOT touch the upper part of the toaster to avoid burns. The top part will get hot.

Insert breads in pairs and put them in central slots. *1 slice or put in the corner may be unevenly toasted.
