How much weight can the hook carry?

I would think about 5-10 lbs. I put this as add on my pocket book and book bag. It’s pretty sturdy but not to the point to use on anything bigger like a heavy duffle bag that weights over 15 lbs.

When used as a cross body where does it sit at the lowest?

Pretty low if you want. Adjustable. Comfortable at shoulder

Can it be made small enough to be a belt bag strap?

That would depend on your waist size, if you’re smaller I would say no.

Has anyone used this with knitted or crocheted purses?

No but I think it would work. I used for a brown leather bag and looks amazing. Love the length that can be changed to different sizes.

Can you throw this in your washer?

I have not thrown it in the washer, however my intention when mine needs to be cleaned is to wash it by hand.
