Product Description

The Halo air-tite 5 In. Recessed housing features an air-tite design to prevent airflow between the attic and living areas in your home. This housing has a built-in thermal protector that can be covered by insulation and features an adjustable socket bracket to ensure proper and consistent lamp positioning.

One problem with recessed light fixtures is that they can undermine all the hard insulating work youve done by allowing warm air to leak into your attic. The H5ICAT from Halo is designed to eliminate this problem: its trademark "Air-Tite" housing prevents airflow between the attic and living spaces. The housing itself is insulated, which means that you can cover it with insulation without risking a fire. And it looks good, too--the five-inch aperture is both elegant and inconspicuous.

The H5ICAT allows for a variety of situations particular to your construction site. It can be positioned at any point within a 24-inch joist span, and score lines are provided to facilitate field-shortening for 12-inch joists. The junction box is approved for through-branch circuit wiring and has seven 1/2-inch knockouts with true pry-out slots. The housing may be adjusted for ceilings of up to one-inch thick.

The housing also features preinstalled nails for easy installation, and it includes an automatic leveling flange that lets you align the housing and hold it in place with one hand while securing to joists. For safety, the unit includes a thermal protector that deactivates the fixture if it overheats. Available with a variety of trim options (sold separately). UL/cUL listed. --Josh Dettweiler
