The UV/IR cut filter is specially designed for UV and IR wavelength cutoff to improve the clarity of the image, it can be used as an IR protection filter for modified cameras. This is important because unfiltered CCD and CMOS sensors are very susceptible to ultraviolet and infrared light outside the visible light spectrum, which can have a very negative impact on image quality.

UV-IR cut filter is designed to block ultraviolet and infrared wavelengths to improve sharpness of the image as most of the optics are designed for the visible spectrum.
