Description

The General Electric P42 is a modern 4200 horsepower passenger locomotive used across the United States and Canada with Amtrak utilizing it in a majority of their revenue service. 2021 marked Amtrak’s 50th Anniversary, and in celebration Amtrak created five unique paint schemes for its P42 engines: #160 wears a phase III paint scheme that was used specifically on Amtrak’s “Dash 8” locomotives along with the anniversary logo. Each locomotive is designed to uniquely honor Amtrak’s heritage and their vision of connecting communities, economies, and families nationwide.
