Step 1

Open the cover and carefully wipe the detection prism with a soft cloth.

Step 2

Drop distilled water on the prism, turn the zero adjustment screw to adjust the dividing line to 71% position of the scale, and then wipe it.

Step 3

Drop the solution to be tested on the prism and close the cover to avoid air bubbles and spread the solution all over the surface of the prism.

Step 4

Aim the daylight plate at the bright place, observe through the eyepiece, turn the adjustment handwheel.
