With the presentation of the 203 at the 1948 Salon, Peugeot entered the era of the post-war modern car. Together with the Traction and the Simca «Huit», it facilitated the democratization of motor tourism during the 1950’s. The Peugeot reputation for robustness, already well established, became legendary with the 203. It completed the round trip, Paris - Le Cap - Paris at an average speed of 60 km/h.
