EM282-R
EM282-R is designed to locate leaks in pressure and vacuum systems. It can be used to detect and locate the source of the ultrasonic emission generated by gas or liquid flowing through a small restrictive opening. It uses the advanced ultrasonic sensing technique and features small size, light weight, reliable detection, easy use and utility. In conjunction with EM282-T Ultrasonic Transmitter, EM282-R can also be used for tightness check in sealed compartments such as container, tank, car, etc.
EM282-T
EM282-T can send out ultrasonic sound of 40kHz and is designed to be used in conjunction with EM282-R.
Non-pressurized vessels or containers cannot generate ultrasonic sounds. Tightness check for them (also cars, ships, etc.) can be performed by using EM282-R and EM282-T together. To do it, turn on EM282-T and place it inside the compartment to be checked. The ultrasonic sound emitted by EM282-T will pass through orifice or faulty seal and will be quickly located by EM282-R.
Principle
Turbulence created by gas or air forced through a small orifice generates ultrasonic sound. Ultrasonic sound occur when the atmosphere leaks into a vacuum vessel or when a pressure vessel leaks to the outside atmosphere. Ultrasonic sounds frequency is related to the size of the orifice which ultrasonic sound passes through, but usually the frequency is about 40kHz. Ultrasonic sound is very directional, this directionality is used to pinpoint the origin of the ultrasonic sound, the leak point.
Operation Mode
EM282-R can be used in one the two modes, one is Active Mode, another is Passive Mode.
In the Passive Mode, only EM282-R is used.
Passive Mode can be detect and locate leaks in pressure and vacuum systems. These leaks can generate ultrasonic emission which can be detected by EM282-R.
In the areas where leaking gases are not pressurized or not sufficiently pressurized, there is no ultrasonic sound for detection. In this situation, you can use Active Mode to detect and locate leak. In Active Mode, EM282-R is used in conjuction with EM282-T. EM282-T is an ultrasonic transmitter which can send out ultrasonic sound. By placing EM282-T in sealed area, and scanning the extorior of this area with EM282-R, the ultrasonic sound escaping from the sealed area will be detected. A flaw in the seal can quickly and accurately be located and pinpointed.
