Vickers hardness English term: Vickers-hardness indicates a standard for materials hardness. First proposed by British scientist Vickers.
With a load of 49.03-980.7N, a square tapered diamond presser with an opposite surface angle of 136° is pressed into the material surface.
After maintaining specified time, the diagonal length of indentation is measured, and then the hardness is calculated by formula.
It is suitable for the hardness measurement of larger workpieces and deeper surface layers.
Vickers hardness has a small load Vickers hardness, test load 1.961- <49.03N, it is suitable for the determination of thin workpiece, tool surface or coating;
Micro Vickers hardness, test load <1.961N, suitable for metal foil, determination of the extremely thin surface layer.
HV-for microscopic analysis. Vickers hardness (HV) is pressed into material surface with a load of less 120kg and a diamond square cone presser with a apex angle of 136°.
The load value is divided by the surface area of material indentation pit, which is the Vickers hardness value (HV).
