Description

The J section banded Poly-V belt has a 0.55" total width and 0.14" height, 6 ribs, is built by Continental ContiTech with Vytacord tension members, and is suitable for industrial applications where mechanical or environmental abuse is a factor. The belt has 6 individual ribs, each with a 0.092" V-width; they are bonded together by fabric to increase flexibility and heat dissipation. The belt is static conductive, making it appropriate in the presence of explosive gases, liquids, powders, and other substances where the possibility of static sparks must be kept to a minimum.

The Poly-V belt is built with Vytacord tension members, a synthetic reinforcement that increases overall tensile strength and lends dimensional stability so that drive performance is more consistent and predictable over the life of the belt. The Poly-V belt is suitable for small sheave, compact designs requiring limited vibration. Its weight makes it suitable for high-speed drives with short center distances. It uses smaller pulleys than other V-belts and can handle speed ratios of 40:1. It resists settling the grooves of the sheave, which maintains consistent speed ratios and uniform output speed. The belt fully engages with the sheave grooves, equalizing belt stresses, which in turn minimizes belt stretch, leading to longer product life. It allows smaller sheaves to be used, reducing weight and increasing drive efficiency. The belt is backed in oil-and abrasion-resistant fabric, providing longitudinal flexibility and lateral strength to the joined belt.

Banded belts are a collection of individual belts that transmits horsepower to the power transmission drive as a single belt. Frequently used in abusive environments such as farming and manufacturing, they are constructed to withstand oily, dirt-filled manufacturing environments and the heat of the outdoors.
