We spent thousands to design and to tool our IR receiver to include superior components and material.

You will not see another one in the world like it. If you do its ours!

The IR3856 IR receiver has a 9 feet long cable with a 3.5mm end plug. The IR receiver has a 38 and a 56kHz receiver module. The receiver head is compact (.53 x 1.12 × .43) 1/2 inch wide, 1 inch long and 1/2 inch tall. We designed the shape, so it won’t be easily noticeable where you mount it.

The external receiver allows you operate your cable box remotely to hide your ugly cable box behind a wall mounted TV, inside an enclosed entertainment center or cabinet, a media room or closet (Use any stereo extension cable up to 100 feet with 3.5mm stereo end plugs).

INSTALLATION: Simple Plug and Play

Remove the receiver cable from the package. Do not remove the twist tie until you have confirmed the IR receiver is working. Insert the 3.5mm end plug into the port on the back of the cable box labeled IR IN or Ext., Ext IN IR. NOTE: Do not plug into any port that is labeled Serial (this is for technician’s use only!)

Make sure to forcibly insert the 3.5mm plug so it seats as far as it can into the port. This is extremely critical. If it is not seated properly the receiver will not work.

Once you confirm the IR receiver is working you can remove the protective layer from the bottom of the receiver head to expose the adhesive tape and amount anywhere there will be line-of-sight from the remote control. You should be able to point the remote directly to the receiver head without obstruction. Please make sure to wipe the area by rubbing alcohol or other cleaner and allow it to dry so the tape will adhere properly.

We suggest mounting on the TV frame, under the frame, or in another location that works for you. i.e. The TV stand is good too.

The receiving distance will be 35-40 feet when used with a 38kHz remote and cable box. These are the cable boxes listed in the bullet point section. NOTE except Cisco/Scientific Atlanta Explorer 4642HDC, 4652HDC, 9865HDC,8642 HDC,8742HDC they have a 56kHz IR sensor. The distance will be 25 feet

NOTE: The front IR sensor will disable when the receiver is plugged into the IR IN port on the back of all the cable boxes listed except the RNG models. The front IR sensor remains active. Make sure when testing in this case remove the twist tie so can cover the box with a towel or hide it away from the IR receiver head. In short, the cable boxes software will be confused from receiving two signals and will not perform correctly. One from the front IR sensor and the other from the IR receiver head.

IMPORTANT!!!!! Cable boxes tend to generate heat so it’s imperative to place the box where there is at least 6 inches of ventilation for the top and sides of the box, and or install a fan designed for use inside of cabinets and enclosures.
