What size drop do I need?
Measure from the top of your vehicles receiver to the ground in inches
Subtract fourteen inches from your receiver measurement
Whatever drop length your calculated measurement is closest to should be your desired drop length. Round down if needed.
How Do I Determine My Shank Size?
The shank size should reflect the size of your vehicles receiver. To ensure fit, measure the inside (wall to wall) of the square receiver located the back of your vehicle. Generally 1/2 ton are 2", 3/4 & 1 ton are 2.5", occasionally 1+ ton are 3"

Tongue weight is simply the downward force that the tongue of the trailer exerts on the hitch that is connected to the vehicle. For safest towing, a trailer’s hitch should bear a tongue weight between 10% – 15% of the trailer’s gross weight (GTW).
