●The Sun Gong, what we at Gongs Unlimited call the Solar Flare Gong, is a less traditional Chinese Gong than some of the other styles. It is basically a Wind Gong, but with concentric bands of lathed and unlathed circles. The unlathed parts control the crash and splash, less than a Wind Gong. The rings concentrate the tones and it does not open up sound-wise like a fully lathed gong.
●Its a more recent design created by Chinese gong makers and is available to all gong sellers, so we felt compelled to put it in the Traditional section.
●Navigators since the days of yore have depended on the stars as a reliable source of light by which to guide their journeys. From the starting point of the shores of home to the bulls-eye of their destination, stars are where its at for getting us where we need to go. And for those of us tethered to the earth by gravity there is no greater star than the Sun.

Gongs Unlimited calls the Sun Gong, the Solar Flare Gong. Why? Well we started doing that about a decade ago to give the gong a more modern feel and to acknowledge that it helps with bursts that can change your energy field.

The Sun or Solar Flare Gong is a modern creation by the Chinese Gong Makers. It is a Wind Gong, that has been lathed with concentric circles. They did this for design, for look, but it gives us a unique sound too.

The tones of the Sun Gong are more controlled than the Wind because the concentric circles dont let the gong crash fast. The sound is more controlled and this leads to a smooth, drawn-out splash tone.

The circles on this gong create a beautiful aesthetic that adds to any room. Many businesses like it because they see the design as a target, and they can celebrate once they reach their targets.
