If you were part of the Roman auxillary infantry or cavalry during the later part of the Imperial history, you would have most likely carried the Roman Parma Shield. This round shield was used by the Roman army. Modeled after its original design, this piece features poplar wood construction with a brass boss and brass edging.

A single wooden handle has been attached to the back of the shield for carrying/wielding purposes. This particular shield has been painted and finished in a Brimstone Red color. We have other colors available in different listings. The shield also features a heavy 16 gauge steel boss in the center and a steel rim all around the outer edge.

It is enhanced by a painted linen covered front. On the reverse side is a wooden bar grip that will ensure easy carrying. With historically authentic design, this shield is great for costumes, re-enactments, and display. Choosing Knight Armor that can be pushed neatly under the budget of yours means even a generous armor may actually fit without paying the extra. Just make sure there’s enough sizes you are giving with your order to make it fit and you can wear underneath armor to sit comfortably.

In the world of Vikings, wooden shields are a key part of each warrior’s protection and each shield is unique—painted in different colors, patterns and motifs. With a solid wood and steel construction our Anglo-Saxon Ragnvar Viking Shield is great for full contact simulated combat in reenactments, plays, or for display. This shield is painted red and blue and sealed to provide protection for the wood and a glossy finish. The boss is sixteen gauge steel, suitable for protecting your hand during practice combat. The handle is riveted to the back comfortably cupping the hand under the boss. Blue and red were popular colors throughout the Viking Age. In general, they all wore colorful clothes with patterns and sewn-on ribbons.
