The Mino Ware is a general term for the ceramics that has been produced since long ago in the Mino region in Japan. It is considered to have originated from Sueki in Nara Period (8th century), and reached its peak in the Azuchi-Momoyama period in the 16th century. The Mino Ware continued to evolve and has become necessary tableware on the Japanese dining table today. The features of the Mino Ware have been handed down unchanged until today and well accepted in Japan’s everyday life. The Mino Ware is characterized by the use of glaze and distorted shapes that people love even today. It is said that skilled craftsmen continue to improve the product to evolve with the time.
