A Unit Includes
The rods that create The Great Divides perimeter framework are sturdy enough to function as a barrier, yet flexible enough to bend with the contours of your vehicle, a delicate design balance that is harder to achieve than it looks!
Any questions? The sections below provide information regarding choosing the correct size, installation tips, and the actual net dimensions are listed in the "OTHER HELPFUL INFO" section.
We have 5 sizes to choose from, 3 sizes for installation behind the front seats and 2 sizes for a cargo space. Sizing is based on one simple measurement, depending on where you intend to install the barrier.
For sizing behind the front seats, measure the wall-to-wall width of your vehicle at headrest height.
For sizing a cargo area, measure the "floor"-to-ceiling height of that space.

Anchor on the HeadrestsThere are 2 grommet holes to choose from when anchoring The Great Divide to each headrest using the loop bungees provided. |
Anchor on the HeadrestsWhen securing The Great Divide to the headrest, if your headrest is on the small side, use an overhand knot. |
Upper Attachment on HandleUse the double-hook bungees provided to secure the upper "corners" as needed. (This is not necessary in all vehicles.) As seen here, you can utilize both upper grommets and/or double-wrap the bungees around the handle to create the snuggest fit. |
Upper Attachment on HandleYou can also use the double-hook bungees in this way to secure the upper "corners" as needed. |

Under the SeatOne of the lower "corners" of The Great Divide may stick out after you attach the barrier to the headrests. This will resolve once you secure the lower “corners." Typically there is a bar of some type underneath the seat on which you can hook one end of a double-hook bungee. |
On the Side of the SeatAlternatively, you can hook one end of a double-hook bungee to any nook or cranny of the plastic seatbelt housing on the floor of the vehicle. |
Use the Built-In Anchor Point for Infant Car Seat - ExposedLower attachments are not always necessary when installing The Great Divide in a cargo area. That said, many newer-model cars are equipped with anchor points on the backseat intended for use with infant car seats. You can use these anchor points and the double-hook bungees provided to secure the lower "corners" of The Great Divide, as seen here. |
Built-in Anchor Point for Infant Car Seat - HiddenHere we see the built-in anchor point intended for an infants car seat "hidden." Look closely and you can see the double-hook bungee just peeking out. |
The actual net dimensions of the various sizes are as follows: Front Small - 52"W x 43"T, Front Medium - 56"W x 47"T, Front Large - 60"W x 50"T, Rear Small - 50"W x 33"T, and Rear Large - 52"W x 43"T. (+/- 1 inch in either direction, all sizes)
It is important to remember that your success with any barrier will depend, at least to a degree, on the size and/or temperament of your pet. (Some circumstances may call for metal barriers or crating.)
Nylon mesh fabric + puppy teeth ≠ a good outcome, so we do not recommend The Great Divide for chewing puppies! Rambunctious, young dogs with really "enthusiastic" temperaments may not be great candidates either!
Last but certainly not least, this awesome Aussie is Bailey, the real-life inspiration for our first model, The Original Pet Net. We have her to thank for The Great Divide. Thanks, Bailey!
