Taps can be divided into straight flute thread taps, spiral flute thread taps, spiral point thread taps and thread forming taps. They are also divided into hand taps and machine taps according to the usage.
Hand taps are operated by tap wrenches. Machine taps are suggested to be used with tap collets with overload protection. Recommended feed rate: General steel: 6-15m/min; harder steel: 5-10m/min; stainless steel: 2-7m/min; cast iron: 8-10m/min.
Provides rapid downward chip removal to achieve efficient thread cutting, suitable for processing through holes or shallow holes.
6542 high-speed steel taps offer high hardness, good toughness, wear resistance, and excellent cutting performance.
Feature just the base substrate without any additional coatings, great for a wide range of applications.
Thread taps create new threads or re-thread damaged or jammed threads. Widely used for most metals, iron plate, copper, zinc, alloy steel, abrasive steel, A3 steel, stainless steel, etc..
Add proper tapping oil for higher quality internal threads and more durable taps. The tapping depth should not exceed 1.5 times the diameter of the tap (for example, the diameter M5x0.8 is about 5mm, and the depth should not exceed 7.5mm.)
Hand use or electric drill use is easy to cause breakage to the tap, so it is not recommended. Cutting oil is lubrication, cooling and anti-sticking. Be sure to select the appropriate cutting oil for complex tapping process and apply anti-rust oil for maintenance after use.
Control speed according to material hardness. The higher the hardness, the slower the speed. Fast speed with small torque; slow speed with high torque. The force must be uniform in tapping operations.
