Get the old spring out
- The first thing is to do is remove these two torx screws(RED) that hold the door in place
- The next thing is loosen the filler neck screws(BLUE) so that you could get enough space between the filler ncek and the defender to be able to remove the lid or the fuel door
- Then get the fuel door on a bench and start removing the rusted spring from the fuel door itself, Pry it gently and try to separate the pieces, there you may see its just a rusted piece of spring not much there
All of youre gonna need for replacement:
- Autoacc chevy fuel door spring
- A t30 socket along with a ratchet
- A flathead screwdriver
- For satey reasons, youre going to need the gloves and safety glasses
Get the new fuel door spring in place

Put the chevy fuel door spring in
|
Put the chevy fuel door spring prongs in
|
Push the chevy fuel door spring clip into the slot
|
Now its time to put the chevy fuel door assembly back in
- Try it a few times
- Now get back over the truck and put it back in
