What is a field monitor for camera?
An external, battery-powered mobile display, a field monitor shows you the exact same picture that is being recorded to camera. Here are a 3 key reasons to get one: Ranging 5″-9″ in screen size, much larger than standard camera displays, a field monitor is excellent for viewing all details clearly within a frame.
What does a camera monitor do?
In addition to providing a larger display, many camera monitors provide additional tools to assist camera operators. Such tools include framing guides, focus peaking, zebra stripes, waveform monitors (oftentimes as an "RGB parade"), vectorscopes and false color to highlight areas of the image critical to the operator.
Why do you need a field monitor?
Suppose it is difficult for the user to identify the focus point through the cameras viewfinder. The user can either monitor the focus with "focus peaking" or "zoom in" on the field monitor. The zoom-in function allows users to quickly examine the images details and ensure that the subject is entirely focused.
How do I choose a camera monitor?
