Description

Bachmann trains 2-8-4 Berkshire DCC sound value equipped locomotive - nickel plate #759 - HO scale. The 2-8-4 design was born from the need to improve the performance of the 2-8-2 Mikado locomotive. William Woodward of the lima locomotive works improved the performance of the Mikado by adding a larger firebox to achieve more power with the result of a locomotive with a bigger, 100 square-foot firebox that necessitated the need for an extra trailing axle giving the locomotive a 2-8-4 wheel arrangement. 2-8-4 locomotives were run on many American railroads. One of this class, nickel plate no. 765 is preserved in operating condition and operates RAILFAN trips on a regular basis. This DCC sound-equipped locomotive includes our sound value Soundtracks steam package and features a precision motor, die-cast chassis, details and tender style per prototype, brass-machined flywheel, metal handrails and stanchions, LED headlight and tender backup light, die-cast marker lights, see-through underframe, metal wheels, and E-Z Mate mark II couplers.
