About Canning Lids
In a separate small container, heat the lids (flat discs) in hot, but not boiling water. Heating softens the sealing compound, helping it form an airtight seal with the jar.
About Bands
Screw bands are not needed on stored jars. They can be removed easily after jars are cooled. When removed, washed, dried, and stored in a dry area, screw bands may be used many times. If left on stored jars, they become difficult to remove, often rust, and may not work properly again.
How To Make Sure The Sealing
Tap the lid with the bottom of a teaspoon. If it makes a dull sound, the lid is not sealed. If food is in contact with the underside of the lid, it will also cause a dull sound. If the jar is sealed correctly, it will make a ringing, high-pitched sound.
Notes:
- Please make sure the size before purchase.
- Please keep the lid clean and dry, if there is water, you canning dry the lid of the can to prevent rust.
- The edge of the lid is a little sharp, so be careful not to cut your fingers.
- If the cover is rusty or damaged, please replace with a new cover immediately.
