"People who build replica instruments or who do restoration or repair work are just going to love these." —Frank Ford, vintage instrument repair expert

Golden Age tuners are the rebirth of popular early 20th Century tuning machine designs, featuring simple steel plates and open gears. Replacements for the originals have long been sought by collectors and repairmen, to restore older guitars and improve their tuning. Our special relic nickel-finished versions complement vintage hardware and add an authentic look to reproduction guitars.

Bright nickel tuners have gloss finished knobs, relic tuners have matte finished knobs.

Installation Tips

Peghole spacing: Plate-mounted tuners cant work efficiently if the pegholes are improperly aligned. Our Tuning Machine Drill Jig for Slotted Pegheads ensures the correct 1-3/8" string roller spacing for accurate tuning.

Mounting screws: Pilot holes required. Installing delicate screws into hard wood requires great care and accuracy. We highly recommend the #1714 Depth-stop Drill Bit (3/32" bit) for the pilot hole before installing these screws. Lubricate the screw threads with cutting lubricant (also wax or a bar of soap) to reduce friction and help them thread properly.
