What should be considered when buying a contour gauge?
The contour gauge is a practical tool for safely and easily transferring contours to the tool and then to the corresponding material. The great advantage is that it is very easy to use. Even inexperienced do-it-yourselfers will quickly be able to handle the contour gauge. The simple versions are particularly easy to set up. The individual needles have an adjustable strength and can be fixed 100% with the locking device. This means that there is no danger of the scanned contours slipping and thus falsifying the result. Once the transferred contour is fixed, it can be easily transferred to the corresponding material to be cut. After the transfer to the desired material, the tool can be returned to its original shape. New patterns or contours can then be scanned at any time. It is important to note the measuring range of a contour gauge. If this is not large enough, this can mean that some obstacles, e.g. when laying floors, cannot be transferred accurately. For example, if a heating pipe is too far away from the wall and the contour gauge is not deep enough, the shape cannot be pressed down 100%. The same applies to the length or width of the contour gauge. If you want to take an impression of a door frame and the contour gauge is not longer or wider than the door frame, it cannot be pressed 100%. In addition to the measuring range, the fineness of the individual "needles" and the flexibility of the needles also play a role. The finer the needles, the more carefully the shape can be traced afterwards and the less flexible the "needles", the lower the risk of them slipping in the meantime.
