5/8" keyed shaft is available in 3", 6" and 18" lengths. This keyed shaft is made from durable, high-grade steel that can withstand high-demand projects in many conditions.

What is a Keyed Shaft?

Keyed shafts are used in a variety of applications and work in unison with rotating components to transmit motion. Keyed shafts can withstand torque and transfer power from motors and other components to drive units. A rotary key seat is milled into the length of a shaft which is inserted into a bored part with an internal key way. Fully keyed shafting provides a good fit between the key and the keyway. A key is inserted between the keyed shaft and bored sleeve which prevents slippage and provides a substantial surface area of contact to manage forces applied in power transmission.

How are Keyed Shafts Manufactured?

Keyed shafts by Sosco Metals are manufactured under tight quality conditions with state of the art machines. Such machines are capable of holding tolerances as tight as 0.0001". Keyed shafts are produced to standard industry tolerances from domestic steel rods.
