Feature

●◇ Function --- The Prokomon cylinder leak down test kit is designed to detect a variety of common engine failures including: worn piston rings, worn valves, cracked cylinder walls, and cracked head gaskets. Available with a single gauge to show cylinder leakage or dual gauge to show cylinder leakage and cylinder pressure. Suitable for any gasoline engine with 18 ,14, 12 or 10 mm spark plugs.
●◇ Easy To Use --- remove the Schrader valve and close the regulator before using shop air. Install the hose to the cylinder, attach the unit to the air source, calibrate the leak detector, and connect the unit to the cylinder hose. Diagnose by observing the amount of air leakage displayed on the cylinder leak meter and listening for air leaks at various points in the vehicle system. Please note: This cylinder leak tester is not suitable for use on shallow cylinders.
●◇ Dual Pressure Gauge --- The assembly has an American air plug, pressure regulating valve, aluminum manifold body, cylinder pressure gauge, cylinder leak gauge, and 19-inch long rubber nylon resin hose with quick coupler. The two gauges feature large 3-inch dials protected by rubber covers, and the gauges are graduated from 0-100psi/0-7bar.
●◇ 4 Adapters --- There are 4 sizes adapters brass coated aluminum 14mm(fixed on a 10" long hose), aluminum 18mm, 12mm and 10mm (rboth can be connected to 14mm adapter), can help to test the gasoline engine with 10, 12, 14, 18mm spark plugs.
●◇ Prokomon --- Please unscrew the adapter after the cylinder is cooled to prevent the hose from softening and not driving the adapter to rotate together. We pursue outstanding quality and professional technical support. Use:

The cylinder air leakage measuring instrument is suitable for detecting whether the air tightness of automobile engine cylinder is within the allowed air leakage range; it can further determine the location and cause of air leakage from the analysis of fault phenomenon, so as to take measures to eliminate the fault.

Principle:

The detection principle is when the engine is at rest, the piston is in the stroke of the upper dead center position, to the cylinder to inject a certain amount of compressed air. The time it takes for the air pressure to drop to the specified value reflects the size of the leak. The shorter the time, the larger the air leak.3 Conversely, the smaller the air leak. If constant pressure air is continuously supplied, the main areas causing air leaks can be determined so that engine maintenance can be targeted.

Main Technical Parameters:

Pressure measurement range: 0-1 MPa

Inlet air pressure range: 0-l.6 MPa

Working air pressure: 0.6-0.8 MPa

Easy To Use

1. Before using shop air, remove the Schrader valve and close the air regulator valve counterclockwise. Connect a separate rubber hose to the pressure gauge assembly, observe the cylinder being tested and decide on that basis if either of the M10 or M12 adapters need to be installed.

2. There are 2 methods of testing. Either one is your preference.

1. Direct type test

The meter tester can be connected directly to the 10" rubber hose for spark plug testing.

2. Screw-in test

Based on the first method, install one of 2 aluminum adapters (M10/M12).

How To Use:

  1. Remove the spark plug of the engine, turn the crankshaft with the handle so that the piston is at the top dead point, engage the direct gear and tighten the parking brake to prevent the compressed air from pushing the piston to move during the test.
  2. Screw the air supply fitting on the first cylinder to the top of the compression, connect the quick-change fitting end of the air duct to the output of the measuring instrument and, at the same time, connect the air compressor to the input of the test instrument . Close the pressure regulating valve of the instrument (pull out the knob of the pressure regulator when using).
  3. Start the air compressor to inflate, turn off the air compressor when the inflation reaches 0.8MPa, prepare the stopwatch, quickly start the pressure regulating valve while pressing the stopwatch, record the holding time, observe the change of the pressure gauge when the gauge pressure drops When it reaches 0.4MPa, press the stopwatch and record the time for the gauge pressure to drop from 0.8MPa to 0.4MPa. Use this length of time to compare similar machines in order to diagnose the extent of damage to the cylinder leak. The longer the holding time, the better the air tightness of the cylinder; if the holding time is very short, usually no more than 10 seconds, indicating that the gas red serious, must be repaired for leaks. In order to facilitate the test, the test sequence of each cylinder is in accordance with the order of cylinder ignition. Crankshaft every half turn (180 °) can test a cylinder.
  4. Determine the location of the leak: Also start the air compressor and deliver air to the upper dead center of the cylinder. Use the pressure regulating valve to control the pressure at 0.6 MP3. listen carefully to the sound of air leakage to determine the location of the cylinder leak. If you hear the sound of air leakage at the intake manifold, that the intake valve is not sealed; if you hear the sound of air leakage at the exhaust muffler, that the exhaust valve is not sealed; if you hear it at the oil filler, there is generally air leakage, a slight small sound is normal; if you hear a big sound, feel the air flow, is a serious air leakage, that the cylinder - piston vice not sealed. If you see the radiator water bubbles bubble out of the cylinder head gasket burned, causing the cylinder and water jacket through; if you hear the cylinder next to the spark plug mouth with the sound of air leakage, that the cylinder head gasket between the two cylinders burned, the occurrence of cylinder flushing.
