What are phosphates?
Phosphorus is the main nutrient that supports the growth of aquatic plants, and it is a natural part of an aquatic ecosystem. Phosphates enter a pond or lake from fish waste, leaves, lawn clippings, other organic matter, and storm runoff, which carries fertilizers and contaminants that can begin to disrupt the natural aquatic ecosystem.
Why should I remove phosphates from my pond?
High levels of phosphates, especially from fertilizers, can cause poor water quality, rampant weed growth, and toxic algae bloom. Unless phosphates are controlled, successful aquatic management is limited. EcoBoost PRx is designed to bind excess phosphates quickly, safely, and effectively making them unusable as a food source for algae and weeds.
Can I just do one application of EcoBoost PRx?
EcoBoost PRx acts as a “reset” button, ideal for application early in the spring. EcoBoost PRx should also be applied any time phosphates become a problem, such as following heavy rain or lawn fertilizer treatment. Storm runoff, which carries fertilizers and other contaminants, will continually disrupt the natural aquatic ecosystem of your pond. As the environment will continue to affect your pond or lake, EcoBoost PRx applications may continue to be needed to bind excessive phosphates and maintain your water quality.
Is EcoBoost PRx safe to use in a pond used for swimming?
Yes, water treated with EcoBoost PRx may be used for swimming, recreation, fishing, and other activities immediately after treatment. EcoBoost PRx is all-natural, and safe for horses, livestock, birds, pets, fish, wildlife and the environment.
