Applications

Spiral point taps are also called screw-point taps, suitable for tapping through holes and deep threads. Because of its special chip removal method, the spiral point tap avoids the chips interference with the formed thread surface, so that the quality of the finished threaded hole is better than that of the ordinary straight fluted tap. The shallow groove structure ensures cooling and strengthens the torque resistance in the tap processing so that it can have a higher speed and is suitable for processing deep through-hole threads. Due to the chip removal method of the screw point tap, it is recommended for vertical machining and through-hole threading.

About This Tap:

  • Type: Spiral Point
  • Measurement: SAE
  • Accuracy Class: 2B
  • Material: HSS 6542

Spiral Point Tap

Suitable for through holes, the chips are discharged downward. The machined thread surface is of high quality.

Straight Fluted Tap

Suitable for machining materials with powdery chips. Through hole or shallow blind hole can be machined.

Spiral Flute Tap

Used for blind hole machining, chip removal upward, good chip removal effect, no residual cutting.

Tips

  • Please be sure to take protective measures when working, you need to wear goggles and protective gloves.
  • Before tapping confirm whether the diameter of the round hole is appropriate. Be sure to select the appropriate cutting oil for the complex tapping process and apply anti-rust oil for maintenance after use.
  • When tapping, control the speed according to the hardness of the material, it is necessary to add water or coolant to cool down to prevent excessive temperature and reduce tap loss.
