A sight to see, this six-wheeler Tyrrell, Project 34, was a sensational piece of art introduced into the 1976 racing season that soon saw other teams copying the style. Designed by Derek Gardner and Ken Tyrell, they were looking to find better solutions for improved handling. Changes in the Formula Ones dimensions for the front wing, had Tyrrell reconsidering the standard 4 wheel design to try and create more downforce and traction by having a set of wheels directly behind the wing and proved to be successful for the 1976 season as they had multiple podium finishes, but unfortunately, the drivers shared mixed reviews on its handling. By 1978, the rules were updated to limit cars to 4 wheels, ending a very short era for this unique racer making it a sought-after collectible that can now be seen in historic racing and in museums, but this car showcases the innovation and creative thinkers as they tried to pioneer new ways of developing the sport.
